Dissertation: „Mapping Body and Soul. Aristotle and Alexander of Aphrodisias on the Bodily Location of Soul in the Heart“

Jakub Deuretzbacher studied philosophy and ancient greek at the Freie Universität and the Humboldt Universität Berlin. His M.A.-thesis was about Virtue and Emotions in Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics. After that he worked as a wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter in Prof. Rapp’s Thyssen-Projekt on a new german translation and commentary of Aristotle’s Metaphysics. He spent the acadaemic year 2008/09 at the University of Toronto/Canada, where he was working with Prof. Jennifer Whiting.

He earned his doctorate at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin with the dissertation thesis „Mapping Body and Soul. Aristotle and Alexander of Aphrodisias on the Bodily Location of Soul in the Heart“.
