This workshop is the second of a series on Aristotle’s Parts of Animals held among members of Excellence Cluster Topoi, the Research Training Group Philosophy, Science and the Sciences, and the Munich School of Ancient Philosophy (MUSAPh).
The theme for this meeting is blood: what does Aristotle think it is, what does he use it to explain, and what can this tell us about how Aristotle understands the relationship between the basic materials an animal is made of and its environment, character, behaviours, and even its place in the cosmic hierarchy.
Participants include Sophia Connell (Birkbeck, University of London), Chiara Blanco (Cambridge), Sean Coughlin (Excellence Cluster Topoi), Kosta Gligorijevic (McGill University), ), Máté Herner (MUSAPh), and David Merry (RTG HU).
Sophia Connell will also speak at the Ancient Medicine Research Colloquium on Monday July 9 at 10am (sine tempore) in the HU Hauptgebäude, Unter den Linden 6, West Wing, Room 3053.
