In this workshop, we want to understand the continuities and discontinuities between the ancient disciplines of dialectic and logic. Does logic originate with dialectic or are they mutually distinct, more or less contemporaneous alternatives? Did ancient philosophers view dialectic and logic as one and the same project or rather as two closely related projects? Five talks will deal with questions regarding the interface between logic and dialectic in ancient philosophy. Our keynote speaker is Marko Malink (New York University). No prior registration is required. You will find the program and the abstracts in the attached file. This workshop is organized by Christopher Izgin (christopher.izgin@hu-berlin.de) and Fabian Ruge (fabian.ruge@rub.de).
